A few years ago I cut my hair super short, like Emma Watson short. I loved it for a few months, and then decided I enjoyed my longer hair more. I didn't realize, though, how slowly it seems to grow. I've been interested in the "sock bun" trend lately, but it seems really suited for longer hair. I found a way to make it possible for people with shoulder length hair to rock the trend.
What you'll need:
Tall sock, two hair bands, hair spray, bobby pins, patience.
Step One:
Cut off the "tube" portion of a tall sock and roll it into a doughnut shape. If you want, you can purchase a hair doughnut, which you can find pretty much anywhere these days.
Step Two:
Put your hair up in a ponytail wherever you want. With short hair it's easiest to place it low on your head.
Step Three:
Place your sock (or doughnut) around the hair band
Step Four:
Flip your head upside-down and spread out your hair around the sock so that it completely covers it. This will make sense with the next step.
Step Five:
Take your second hair band and place it around the doughnut to secure the hair in place that you covered the sock with. You WILL have extra pieces of hair that aren't in the bun yet, but it will be fixed.
Step Six:
Using bobby pins, secure the hair that isn't yet in the bun. This requires a bit of strategy to not mess up or have them showing.
If this made sense, your final product should look something like this:
I hope this was somewhat helpful! Let me know if you try it out and if it works for you!
xx, Amber.
